Development Center (DC) is a method to map the employee's knowledge, skills and potential for further development.
Compared to the Assessment Center method, this method provides more room for continuous feedback. Each model situation that is presented can be followed by a discussion between the participant and recruitment consultant(s). The model situations used are drawn from the job requirements/demands that would be placed on participants in real life.
Development Centre may consist of the following:
Each participant is asked to continuously evaluate himself/herself and receives continuous feedback from consultants. In conclusion, the candidate's strengths and weaknesses are assessed, and a recommendation made on the candidate’s further development. DC can be also employed to assess the dynamics of an entire team and to identify the strengths of the group and its reserves for development. Based on the input of the DC, a highly effective development plan can be formulated for the client.
DC generally involves a team of internal and external evaluators in order to achieve the greatest measure of objectivity in assessment. It is also recommended to complement the DC assessment with a 360° evaluation method.
